Series I · Mineral Painting 膠彩

Mineral Painting

2013 – present

Mineral pigment, gold leaf and crystal on hand-mounted paper.

Lotus mandalas in stone pigment bound with animal glue over more than twenty layers of hand-mounted paper; the method holds a utility-model patent. Flower hangs at the Taipei Representative Office in France.

Series II · Calligraphy 書法

Calligraphy

2013 – present

Ink on rice paper; silver and gold leaf on silk.

Single characters in splashed ink on cobalt grounds, each the portrait of one idea; her own vernacular poems set down in classical script. Tibetan Ink and Hug are held by the Taiwan Ministry of Culture Art Bank.

Series III · Heroine 女英雄

Heroine

2015

Hand embroidery, engraving and foil.

Ku draws each heroine; artisans trained in the palace flower-and-bird technique work the design by hand in silk thread, and the engraving and foil go on last. The pair hung together at Art Capital, Paris.

Series IV · Buddhist Calligraphy 經書

Buddhist Calligraphy

2014 – present

Ink and gold ink on paper, handscrolls.

The Heart Sutra copied one character at a time, in gold ink on black paper and in ink on saffron and white, for temples, families and private collections. The longest scroll runs past nineteen metres.

Series V · Commissions 委託創作

Commissions

2013 – present

Interiors, brand calligraphy and installations.

Ink panels for the lobby of CityInn Hotel in Taipei, ink-wash panels for a jeweller's display niches, a pavilion of mirrors at the Taichung Flora Expo, and hand-lettered logotypes for Gucci, Kiton, Stefano Ricci and Fabiana Filippi.

New works, single or in series, are made to commission.

Every series is in private and public collections. Works are now made to commission only: bespoke single works, and commissioned series or batch editions for brands, institutions, hotels and collectors. Commissions are scheduled from a waiting list. Prices on application. Every work leaves the studio with a certificate of authenticity, the patent's technical documentation and a provenance record, and is shipped and insured worldwide. An annual Market Note on auctions, collections and releases, without prices, is available on request.
